Connected diagnostic network

What makes us different

More than a scan. A specialist interpretation.

OroScan was built around a simple idea: diagnostic technology is most useful when the right specialist interprets it and communicates the findings clearly.

The network combines oral radiology, oral pathology, telediagnosis and clinician consultation. That makes OroScan useful not only for patients needing imaging or biopsy support, but also for dentists, hospitals and imaging centres that need specialist reporting.

What Is Digital Diagnosis?

One concept. Two diagnostic disciplines.

OroScan’s existing Digital Diagnosis service describes telediagnosis as a combination of teleradiology and telepathology.

Diagnostic images are transmitted using network technology and specialist software so that a radiologist or pathologist can review the study remotely. This is especially useful when a case contains many images or when the relevant specialist is not physically present at the location where the images were acquired.

The value is not simply sending images online. The value is connecting the case with the right specialist interpretation.

Teleradiology

Remote specialist radiology interpretation.

Teleradiology allows dental and maxillofacial imaging to be transmitted electronically so that an Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology specialist can analyse the images from another location.

CBCT & maxillofacial imaging

Appropriate studies can be reviewed remotely where supported by OroScan's workflow.

Large imaging studies

Specialised viewing software helps the radiologist evaluate studies containing multiple images or slices.

Clinician-focused interpretation

Specialist findings support the treating dentist or specialist's clinical decision.

Teleradiology

Pathology expertise through digital images.

Telepathology allows suitable pathology images to be transmitted digitally for specialist review, consultation and diagnostic support when the pathologist is not at the originating location.

Digital pathology images

Relevant pathology images can be shared for remote specialist assessment.

Specialist consultation

Digital review can support discussion of appropriate oral pathology cases.

Clinical context remains essential

History, lesion site and diagnostic information should accompany the submitted case.

How It Works

From local image acquisition to remote specialist review.

The original service is based on digital transmission of diagnostic images between locations.

01

Case created

The clinician identifies the diagnostic question and prepares the relevant imaging or pathology material.

02

Images transmitted

The diagnostic material is sent digitally through OroScan’s supported network workflow.

03

Specialist analysis

The radiologist or pathologist reviews the case using specialist image-analysis software.

04

Diagnostic support

The specialist interpretation is used by the treating clinician together with the rest of the patient’s clinical information.

Technology Behind The Service

Built around image transmission and specialist analysis.

The old OroScan Digital Diagnosis page specifically describes the use of standard network technologies and specialised software to transmit and analyse diagnostic images.

It also references advanced graphics processing and image compression, which are particularly useful when a study contains a large number of images.

Network transmission
Images can be moved between hospital departments or other locations through network technology.

Specialist software
Dedicated software allows radiologists and pathologists to analyse diagnostic images remotely.
Graphics processing
Advanced image processing supports review of complex diagnostic studies.
Image compression
Compression can support efficient transfer of large imaging datasets where appropriate.

Why Digital Diagnosis?

Specialist access without depending on one physical location.

OroScan’s existing page explicitly notes that images can be sent to another part of a hospital or to other locations around the world.

Remote Specialist Access

Connect appropriate cases with Oral Radiology or Oral Pathology expertise beyond the originating centre.

Multi-location Collaboration

Diagnostic images can move between departments, practices or other supported locations.

Large-study Review

Specialised software helps experts analyse studies containing many images.

Supports Clinical Decisions

The specialist interpretation complements the treating clinician’s examination and case information.

For Dentists & Clinicians

Send the clinical question, not just the image.

Remote interpretation works best when the specialist understands why the study was requested.

Clinical question

State clearly what you want the specialist to assess.

Relevant patient history

Include information that may influence interpretation.

Complete diagnostic material

Submit the full supported imaging or pathology dataset rather than isolated screenshots when the workflow requires it.

Previous studies

Prior imaging or reports may provide useful comparison where relevant.

Send the clinical question, not just the image.

OroScan’s wider services include CBCT reporting, maxillofacial CT reporting, cephalometric analysis, TMJ analysis, sinus analysis, implant-placement reporting and telepathology.

However, the exact Digital Diagnosis submission process, supported formats and eligible case types should be confirmed with OroScan before sending a case.

Patient FAQs

Digital Diagnosis, explained.

Clear dental-style FAQs reduce anxiety and help patients understand why the scan or test was recommended.

What is Digital Diagnosis?

OroScan describes Digital Diagnosis as telediagnosis combining teleradiology and telepathology.

Telepathology allows suitable pathology images to be transmitted for remote specialist review and consultation.

Specialised software helps radiologists and pathologists effectively analyse studies that may contain a large number of diagnostic images.

Teleradiology is the electronic transmission of radiological images so a specialist can analyse them from another location.

Yes. OroScan’s existing page states that images can be sent to another part of a hospital or to other locations around the world.

No. Specialist interpretation supports the treating clinician, who combines it with examination findings, history and other clinical information.
